Pre-Trip

While Ruby Springs Lodge offers a secluded home base, we’re not so far from numerous ways to get here from there. Most people fly in and out of Bozeman’s Yellowstone International Airport, but Butte, Missoula, and even Idaho Falls and Jackson Hole are also options.

 

Private Airstrips


DILLON:
DILLON FLYING SERVICES

45 miles (40 minutes) from the Lodge. Dillon is the most popular airstrip for private and chartered flights. It has a 6500’ runway, paved and lighted, with fuel service available.

RUBY VALLEY AVIATION

20 miles (15 minutes) from the Lodge. This strip only supports private and chartered aircraft. Call for details about its capabilities.

30 miles (25 minutes) from the Lodge. This strip only supports private and chartered aircraft. It has a 6600’ paved and lighted runway with fuel services.

We want your Ruby Springs experience to be perfect, so we’re happy to answer questions about what gear and clothing you might want to bring. But here are a few of the basics:

Summer Gear List:

  • 4, 5, or 6-weight fly rod with floating line 

  • Chest waders, lightweight, Gore-Tex 

  • Walking/wading shoes and/or river sandals 

  • Rain jacket

  • Long sleeve shirt (for sun or cold) 

  • Baseball or fishing hat 

  • Polarized sunglasses 

  • Camera 

  • Bug repellent and sunscreen

Spring/Fall Additional Gear:

  • Mid-weight warm coat and/or fleece pullover

  • Warm hat (wool or fleece)

  • Warm gloves

Fishing Gear

The lodge is equipped with Sage and Redington fly rods, Simms and Redington waders, and Simms wading boots, all of which are available to guests free of charge. We also have a well-stocked tackle and gift shop for additional fishing basics and some lodge hats, t-shirts, and gifts.
